Company Description:

TeleCommunication Systems, Inc., now a wholly owned subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq: CMTL), has been pioneering communication technologies since 1987.  Since completing the first U.S. wireless Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) call in 1997, Comtech’s Safety & Security Technologies (SST) group has been leading the way as industry innovators in public safety solutions for wireless E9-1-1, Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1), and emerging related IP technologies such as Voice over IP (VoIP) and Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi).

We helped build the foundation for E9-1-1 and NG9-1-1, and we continue to demonstrate our dedication to public safety through the delivery of secure, reliable solutions, including NENA i3-compliant call-routing and call-handling systems.  Comtech SST’s mission is to make sure its solutions grow to meet the needs of the public safety community and its emergency responders.  We led the industry in bringing wireless E9-1-1 to the United States, and more recently launched text-to-911 and VoWi-Fi 9-1-1.  Our additional leadership in Short Message Service (SMS), call processing, Automatic Location Identification Database Management Systems (ALI DBMS), indoor location accuracy, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), systems integration, and cybersecurity has prepared us to meet the challenges of NG9-1-1.  In fact, since delivering the nation’s first NG9-1-1 calls in 2006, Comtech SST has delivered more NENA i3 traffic than all other manufacturers combined.

Comtech SST supports about half of all U.S. wireless E9-1-1 calls and leads the nation in text-to-911 and Emergency Services IP Network (ESInet) deployments.  We offer the only TL 9000-certified noncarrier Network Operations Center (NOC) for wireless and VoIP E9-1-1 services in the United States.  Furthermore, Comtech SST is pioneering and improving the methods by which U.S. Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) can receive a wireless or VoIP subscriber’s location during calls for emergency assistance.  Our wireline, wireless and VoIP E9-1-1 solutions ensure that a subscriber’s emergency call routes seamlessly to the appropriate PSAP and automatically provides the caller’s location information.

Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Comtech SST maintains technical, service and sales offices across the United States.
